MTC Preach My Gospel Training

MTC Week 1

We had a great week at the MTC. The spirit here is incredible. We spent lots of time walking around campus enjoying the amazing artwork. The murals are life-size to help you imagine being there and backlit to give the appearance of light shining through. They have truly been inspiring.

One of our favorite pictures was of a baptism in the river with villagers standing by with swords, axes, and machetes to fend off the crocodiles. 


The campus is beautiful with all the Christmas lights. Of course, we had to take our picture in front of the World map. We spent a lot of time eating way to much food in the cafeteria. At one point I stepped on the luggage scales in our building…..it was not a pleasant sight. I don't think I will try that again.






We met a lot of new friends and shared many spiritual experiences. We have met young missionaries from Poland, New Zealand, Hawaii, Australia, Tonga, Kiribati, New Guinea, Japan, Mexico, and all over the United States just to name a few. They all have awesome testimonies of Jesus Christ and are excited to share his love all over the world. A couple times during the week we walked around campus and invited some of the young missionaries to go get ice cream (even though it is FREEZING) with us at the campus snack room. It was so fun to hear their life stories.

When we first arrived, they divided us into groups (districts) and we hit the jackpot. There were 3 couples in our district—The Rich’s (who will watch over, document, and serve at the Cody Wyoming temple build), the Hill’s (Australia Brisbane Mission Office Specialist), and us. They are the most fun and humble couples. We grew to love them like we had been friends forever. We had the best team of instructors (Sister White, Brother Bish, and Brother Aguinaga) who were very inspiring. They have such a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Such spiritual giants! We will forever be changed by the influence they have had on us.

One of our favorite activities was a devotional we had where we learned about the Character of Christ and how we can become more like him. At the end, two people (Justin & Ed) told their conversion stories. The experiences they had during their life were humbling and incredibly difficult. After hitting rock bottom, the missionaries found them, and they were able to develop a testimony of Jesus Christ that was incredible. At another devotional we heard from Elder Shumway of the Quorum of the Seventy and his wife. They were inspiring. My favorite quote from Elder Shumway was “FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST GIVES US THE POWER TO ACCOMPLISH THE PURPOSE HE HAS FOR US”

On Thursday we were able to go to the Provo City Temple and do ordinance work for our family. It was a great night!





We have been so blessed this week and grateful for this opportunity we have to serve Jesus Christ. One of the songs we have been singing all week summaries our mission purpose best….

  Wedding Bells are Ringing The past few months have been eventful! A lot of great things have happened, so we'll update you in two separate blogs. Here goes the first of it….. We had the opportunity to join in the celebration of the wedding of Max and Lola Malsungai. What a blessing it was that first day Max, Lola, and little Vaaliyha walked in to join us at our little branch in Albany, Australia all the way from Vanuatu. Living in and Loving Western Australia

  Living in and Loving Western Australia As always, we've been quite busy, so we're a little late with our blog. Here’s what has happened since the end of October. On p-day we went over to Denmark to visit Elephant Rocks. No, there aren't real elephants here, but there are huge granite boulders that resemble a herd of elephants lumbering out to sea. It was beautiful! A short walk from Elephant Rocks is Green’s Pool. It is well known for its turquoise water and white sandy beaches edged by granite boulders creating ideal conditions for swimming. Greens Pool is the iconic centerpiece of William Bay National Park. It is a natural pool of turquoise water, protected by a chain of granite boulders, making it a safer place to swim on this wild South Coast. We have been hearing about Green’s Pool ever since we arrived in Australia because it is our Branch member's, the Winter family, favorite place. We didn’t get in the water on this trip but maybe when the weather warms up...

The End Is Near

  The End Is Near We took a trip up to Mt. Barker to visit the Entwistles (Kath & Paul). They are such a fun family and love to travel as much as we do. Hopefully they will come over to visit us in the United States after we get home. They took us up to the Mt. Barker lookout to show us the view. It was spectacular and seemed to go on forever! This part of the world will always hold a special place in our hearts. We cherish our Branch family in Albany and have experienced many of the area's stunning natural wonders. At the moment, there are lots of butterflies around.  We had a visit from the Zone Leaders Elder Bushi (Albania) and Elder Lewis (Monticello, Utah). They went on splits with the missionaries and Elder Orth and Elder Bushi joined us at Branch Family Home Evening while Elder Clowers and Elder Lewis went to the Young Men's activity.
